We get it — a lot of community events sound better in a flyer than they turn out in real life. You show up, there’s a table with three juice boxes and a sign-in sheet, and everyone kind of stands around looking at their phones.

That’s not what we’re doing on June 26.

Here’s a plain-language guide to what’s actually happening, from someone who planned it and wants you to show up and have a good time.

The basics, first

Date: Thursday, June 26, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Location: Right in front of 2 Care Pharmacy, 3028 Bur Oak Avenue, Cornell, Markham
Cost: Completely free. No registration, no ticket, no email sign-up.

What’s set up outside

We’re bringing tables outside and covering them with art supplies. Not a token arts-and-crafts table with four dried-out markers — proper supplies, restocked throughout the event.

Colouring stations: We’ll have large-format activity sheets — animals, nature scenes, mandalas, simple geometric patterns. Something for every age. Colour one sheet or sit down and spend an hour on it. Whatever works.

Clay sculpting: Air-dry clay in multiple colours. Rolling pins, simple tools, a surface to work on. Kids can make whatever they want — animals, food, abstract blobs. We’ll have some simple shape guides if they want ideas, but there’s no instruction. Just clay and time.

Pencils and crayons: Both. A full set of coloured pencils and a good supply of chunky crayons for younger kids who prefer them.

That’s it. No complicated craft kits. No projects that require adult supervision to complete. Just materials, space, and time.

What we mean by “wellness resources”

This is the pharmacy part. One of our pharmacists — Amal or Omar — will be available outside throughout the event to answer questions. Not formally, not at a table with pamphlets. Just available.

If you’ve been meaning to ask about:

  • OHIP-covered services — there are quite a few things your pharmacist can now do that used to require a doctor’s visit
  • MedsCheck — a free, thorough review of all your medications
  • Minor ailment assessments — UTIs, pink eye, cold sores, and 16 other conditions we can assess and prescribe for
  • Flu shots, travel vaccines — when to book and what to expect
  • Transferring your prescriptions — how it works, how easy it is

…this is a low-pressure chance to have that conversation outside, while your kids are busy with clay.

You don’t need to be a patient at our pharmacy. You don’t need to have a specific question. Come by, ask whatever’s on your mind, and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How long should we stay?

As long as you want. The event runs three hours, but there’s no program, no schedule, no “activity at 11:30 followed by a presentation at noon.” It’s an open gathering.

Some families will stop by for fifteen minutes on their way somewhere. Others will set up at a table and stay for an hour while the kids finish their coloring sheets. Both are completely fine.

If your kids are young and you’re not sure how they’ll handle an unstructured outdoor activity: they’ll be fine. There’s enough variety in the supplies to keep most kids busy, and the space is open so there’s room to move around.

What to bring (or not bring)

You don’t need to bring anything. All materials are provided.

A few things that make it more comfortable:

  • Sunscreen — it’s an outdoor event in late June
  • Water or a drink for the kids
  • An extra layer if the weather is unpredictable

We’ll have a small hand-washing station set up for the clay. Kids will inevitably get it on themselves — that’s the point.

Parking and getting there

3028 Bur Oak Avenue has free parking directly in front of the building. If you’re arriving by transit, the Cornell Community Centre is nearby and the area is well-connected.

We’re street-level, so strollers and wheelchairs can access the event area without any issues.

What if it rains?

We’ll bring the activity tables inside the pharmacy if weather requires it. The event will still happen.

If we need to move indoors, we’ll post an update on our social channels the morning of. If you’re not sure, you can always call us at 905-201-1497.

One more thing

This is the first time we’ve done something like this. We want to get it right. If there’s something you’d like to see at future events — more supplies, different activities, a specific wellness topic covered — come tell us in person on the day, or send us a message before.

We want this to become something the neighbourhood counts on.

See you June 26.
